Rigene Project - Petitions and proposals submitted to the European Parliament
Petition n. 1180/2022, presented by Roberto De Biase, an Italian citizen, on behalf of "Rigene Project", on the general considerations on citizens' education and on industry 5.0
Petition number: 1180/2022
Themes : Environment - Pollution, Social affairs, Fundamental rights, Industry and business
Country: All EU countries
Association name: Rigene Project (rigeneproject.org)
The petitioner believes that the ongoing planetary crises such as climate change, environmental pollution, the ecological footprint, the COVID-19 pandemic and other epidemics, the economic crisis, and the social crisis, change the goals of human beings, directing their forma mentis towards behaviors functional to the resolution of these crises. It is stated that the purpose of human beings until the "pre-crisis" period was to survive, work, satisfy individual needs, with a mentality based on money, profit, consumerism, individualism, while today the survival of individuals is risk from planetary systemic crises, the solution of which can be identified in a new individual-collective mental model based on ecological-social responsibility.

The new task of humans:
From work-profit-consumerism to the resolution of the 5 planetary crises thanks to the tools of Industry 5.0
The 5 ongoing planetary crises such as climate change (climate crisis); environmental pollution, the ecological footprint (ecological crisis); the covid-19 pandemic and other epidemics (health crisis); shortage of raw materials, inflation (economic crisis), social inequalities, wars (social crisis), modify the objectives of humans, directing their forma mentis towards behaviors functional to the resolution of these crises.
The purpose of humans until the "pre-5 crisis" period was to survive, work, satisfy individual needs, with a mindset based on money, profit, consumerism, individualism, but today the survival of humans is put at risk by the 5 planetary systemic crises, whose solution cannot be identified in the mental model on which humanity has been based up to now (working, satisfying individual needs, accumulation of money, profit, consumerism , individualism), but in a new individual-collective mental model based on ecological-social responsibility aimed at solving the 5 planetary systemic crises thanks to the technological tools made available by Industry 5.0 and by the "mindset 5.0", i.e. the forma mentis of those who work in the industry 5.0, based on the systemic-holistic application of emerging technologies, on collaboration and interconnection between people, natural ecosystems and technologies, on ecological-social responsibility.
Today the purpose of humans is to solve the 5 planetary systemic crises, as it is no longer necessary to focus on work, understood as a means to survive, as this process is performed by Industry 4.0/5.0.
All the people of the world, once their digital identity has been registered in the "Industry 5.0" system, will be able to receive the resources necessary for the personalized satisfaction of their needs, and, therefore, devote themselves to participating in the resolution processes of the 5 planetary systemic crises, on the basis to their skills developed in the context of the new 5.0 educational system, i.e. the system that will educate all the people of the world from elementary schools to express their creative-problem solving potential to solve the 5 planetary systemic crises through the 5.0 mindset and the tools technologies of Industry 5.0.
If the educational-economic configuration of the entire human society will be based on this new paradigm, human civilization will be able to survive the 5 planetary systemic crises.
Importantly, technology can be an important tool in addressing these challenges, but it cannot be the only solution.
Global engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration will be required to address the five planetary crises mentioned.
It will also be important to consider the long-term effects of our actions and to ensure that solutions are sustainable and respectful of human rights and the environment.
Furthermore, it will be essential to involve local communities and ensure that solutions are adapted to the specific needs and realities of different regions of the world.
Educate humans for the development of the 5.0 mentality and prepare the new political class towards a scientific-democratic government.
Build a scientific-democratic government thanks to the teaching of the mentality based on the "Industry 5.0" model, from elementary schools, for the development and improvement of the economy, society and the natural environment.
A strong and crisis resilient government must have as a fundamental basis the united and active participation of citizens, who must be prepared and scientifically oriented to face the challenges generated by climate change, the scarcity of raw materials, the ecological crisis (ecological footprint, environmental pollution), the economic and financial crisis, from the health crisis (covid-19 pandemic, etc.), from wars, etc. thanks to emerging technological tools such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum computing, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, robotics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, virtual reality, intelligent materials, and from economic evolutionary processes such as Industry 4.0/5.0, smart city, circular economy, sharing economy, open economy, green-blue economy, from a systemic-holistic perspective.
The mental model (mindset) functional for this purpose can be taught from elementary schools, extrapolating it from the functional logics of Industry 5.0.
Industry 5.0 incorporates all these fundamental aspects: emerging technologies, circular economy and systemic vision.
The resulting mental model (mindset 5.0) makes it possible to perceive the multiplicity of functional dimensions of society in both its individual and collective aspects (local national and international).
The collaboration and interconnection between people, technologies, industrial-urban-state-ecological systems enabled by the digital transition, are completely carried out in Industry 5.0, but the limited benefit that derives from its use only in the industrial sector cannot equal the well-being it would bring to the entire social community if expressed in its full potential through the 5.0 culture widespread throughout schools, universities, mass media, companies , by cultural associations, research centres, public bodies as a fundamental basis of civic education for the full development of people both economically and politically, socially and ecologically.
Now is the time for industrialists to start teaching in schools and all educational segments of society.
